Power Control launches SmartLi solution
Power Control Ltd has announced that it is now able to offer the SmartLi solution from Huawei. Designed using lithium-ion phosphate battery cells, this energy storage system for UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) offers even longer lifecycles than other lithium based batteries, delivering a 5000 cycle lifetime that lasts up to 10 years, without the need for replacement.
SmartLi incorporates active current balance control technology, making it compatible with old and new battery sets. This means businesses can still benefit from this technology without negatively affecting their existing infrastructures. They will also be able to realise up to a 25% reduction in capex.
The Huawei SmartLi UPS solution is extremely compact and achieves a 50% smaller footprint than standard VRLA (valve regulated lead acid) batteries and an industry leading 97% efficiency. Its unique modular, redundant design also ensures that there are no single points of failure. This is achieved through active current balance control interference, which allows the system to function normally even if in the event of a battery module failure.
Lithium-ion battery solutions will start to become more commonplace across the industry. In particular, data centres will adopt lithium technologies to help address two key challenges; efficiency and floor space. Higher density lithium-ion batteries can halve the physical footprint by offering a 1MW per rack configuration.
